ITV Commentary

I've analysed the game again to take a manuscript of the ITV commentary as there are some good bit of dialogue for the book.

ITV Quotes

“The seventy five thousand plus sell out crowd will be twice the size of any other in the third round. Leeds could have sold their allocation twice over. The FA Cup is alive and well here today.”
Clive Tyldsley

“Well Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United don’t do cup shocks. Never beaten by a club from the lower division and never knocked out in the third round, but the weekend surely can’t pass without one shock result.”
Clive Tyldsley

01:30
This will be a great game for Leeds. Too often sides have come here with a negative attitude. Already they have looked to break forward.”
Iain Dowie

“Well the first few minutes haven’t disappointed. Great atmosphere, end to end, and everyone looking on top of their game.”
Iain Dowie

6:15
“Leeds are asking one of two questions early on here.”
Clive Tyldsley

18:15
Berbatov. Seen off by Naylor, who is Leeds through and through. Welbeck won it back momentarily. And it's Howson. Forward towards Beckford. And the balls over Brown. And this is Beckford, it just ran away from here but he'll still get a strike in on goal! And score at the Stretford End for Leeds United! And it doesn't get any better than that for a Leeds centre forward.
Clive Tyldsley

“The shot didn’t have much pace on it, but it got there. It teased the Leeds fans down the other end Old Trafford but the roar that followed it shook this famous stadium and Manchester United are shaken.”
Clive Tyldsley

20:23
“Crowe, and Kilkenny’s got round the back here, and Becchio’s there and it was a real chance to it two-nil and Manchester United are wobbling.”
Clive Tyldsley

23:50
Rooney up front of kisnorbo and a terrific return pass from Berbatov and Rooney is running free here. Keeper committed, Wayne Rooney! Oh, and a fantastic goal line clearance from Crowe.
Clive Tyldsley

45:00 +1 HT
“Well It’s the end of a captivating first half in which Leeds United, thanks to Jermaine Beckford’s twentieth goal of the season, are threatening a major, major upset here at Old Trafford but it looks like a game which probably still has more goals in it.”
Clive Tyldsley

46:00
“Gary Neville and Tomasz Kuszaczak were in particular very vocal and trying to whip up the players around them and I’m sure Alex Ferguson has done a little bit of that during the last fifteen minutes or so. How will Manchester United respond..”
Clive Tyldsley

47:33
And there’s a little bit of a tussle here between Howson and Brown. Wes Brown is walking a tightrope, if not for the challenge, for the afters. He does have a yellow card.
Clive Tyldsley

49:14
Danny Welbeck is sent galloping clear to chase a long ball and looks set to equalise with a diagonal shot from right to left, only to be foiled by an excellent save by Casper Ankergren.
Clive Tyldsley

56.49
“And Manchester United are about to bring on the cavalry.”
Valencia and Giggs on
Welbeck and Obertan off
Clive Tyldsley

68:28
Owen on
Anderson off

70:17
"Rooney, played behind Owen, chance for Valencia, Owen scuffed it, Berbatov! Kisnorbo crashed in and Rooney fires over. Big chance for Michael Owen.”
Clive Tyldsley

71:48
“Leeds aren’t done yet as an attacking threat in this game either.”
Clive Tyldsley

76:48
Howson off
Snodgrass on

77:25
“Johnson, Doyle, slipped through, It’s Beckford, oh! missed by a whisker, that surely would have been game, set and match but Jermaine Beckford just dragged it wide.”
Clive Tyldsley

79.38
“It’s Snodgrass, ohh!, it hit the frame of the goal. Thumped against the angle and came out.”
Clive Tyldsley

90+3
“It’s still Berbatov, and now Antonio Valencia, it will come for Rooney! Saved by Ankergren, Fabio! Ankergren’s there again, Owen’s in there, but it’s going to be hooked away by Michael Doyle, and Leeds United have survived again.”
Clive Tyldsley

95:38 FT
“The third round of the FA Cup never disappoints. The shock of the round comes from the tie of the round. Manchester United tried to throw on all the big guns to try to save it but its Manchester United out, and Leeds United through.”
Clive Tyldsley
