Myself and Dan attended the second Year Book meeting today, and all went well generally. Both us and the client have things to think about and things we need to go away and do before the next meeting.
We discussed the installation and they had got the thumbs up from the rest of the group, and were willing to manage this themselves. We also discussed the cost of the installation in terms of the materials we needed to buy like the wood. I think they were a little taken back by the £160 budget that would be required but they suggested that corrugated cardboard would easier enough to construct the letterforms from. They also would be taking responsibility for the construction and photography of it, which was good news for us.
We both presented layouts we had worked on using the info from last years and it was clear that they were not too keen on my over structured design direction. There were elements of Dan's spreads that caught the eye. I need to really look at the things they liked about Dan's layouts and take that as a head start for other sections such as the introductory, contents, and other spreads.
We also discussed the quotes we had got from Duffields's and they are also keen to see the stock we got from Howard Smith Paper.
We also stressed the importance of getting images and statements as quickly as possible, and Jacqueline was already on with that. We also asked that the images be of a certain quality to maintain continuity across the spreads. We hope to have a sample of the imagery and copy by the next meeting to be able to put some layouts together.
