Joe referenced this book that might help me, as it was full of grids born out of equations. I got the book out of the library, and sure enough it had the grid I had discovered earlier which was really helpful. Here I have some of the grids out of the book including the one I used for the cover.
The book is called 'Grid Index' and the author/design is Carston Nicolai.
